October 30, 2007 – Graffiti Pool

I visited Treasure Island today, a large portion of which is a deserted Naval station. The Olympic sized pool is now filled with graffiti rather than water.

October 29, 2007 – Kodak Junior Six-20

This is an image through the viewfinder of a Kodak Junior Six-20 camera (circa the mid 1930’s). You look down through a second lens to aim the camera, so the view here also shows the main lens and shutter. The camera belonged to my father-in-law, who unfortunately I never had the honor to meet.

It is a beautifully simple instrument – more images of it to come. I am ordering a few rolls of black and white 620 film – the camera is in fine working condition, and it will be great fun shooting with it.

October 28, 2007 – Doors and Dog

I was working on composition today – experimenting with symmetry and balance in the garage doors and then throwing it off with the dog and broom. I’m not sure it really worked, though.

A large corrugated pipe is used for a tunnel that leads to Alpine Pond. Today was a beautiful California “fall” day.

San Gregorio Beach collects a lot of driftwood. On any given day you can find a number of interesting structures and sculptures that visitors build. Though this one is relatively simple, I like its weight and real shelter quality.

October 25, 2007 – Rustbucket

The original car is an old Toyota we have, but through an HDR (high dynamic range) process I brought out ALL the flaws in it.

October 24, 2007 – Magic Button

I love this key. I wish it worked.

October 23, 2007 – Gully Junk

A pile of twisted junk in a desert gully near Rancho Mirage, CA. It might have been a shopping cart, but there was a bed spring in it, too.

October 22, 2007 – Hose and Outlet

I liked the graphic aspect of this image. Taken by the community pool at my Mom’s house.
