This semester we have 17 students at ETC Silicon Valley, working on two teams. "Megalodon" is the largest team we've had yet, with 11 students on it. They are working on a project for Electronic Arts. Without giving away too much, they are developing a multiplayer game using an internally developed game engine at EA [...]
Dino Ignacio of Visceral Games presenting to our ETC students. Dino Ignacio is Lead UI Designer at EA's Visceral Games. He gave a great presentation to our CMU ETC students about his work on Dead Space. The photo was shot with my Canon 430EX flash angled to bounce of the wall to the [...]
Each semester I take team photos of our students at the beginning and end of the term. It's fun to do, the students need the photos for their project websites, and there is always a fun creative challenge to do something that is relevant to their project. Five Sided Square "Five Sided Square" [...]
Kevin posed for me on Christmas as I was trying out my new 28" Westcott Apollo softbox. There are four pictures from the series up on Flickr, I included two here. In the first one, above, I tried something new with the cropping. I used a square aspect ratio, and put Kevin's right [...]

Team photos for our five student teams from the ETC. You can learn more about the projects at our ETC Silicon Valley blog. These are fun to take - there's a wonderful challenge in trying to convey something about the students and their project.
Jason Mraz in the Taylor Guitar Suite This year's NAMM show was pretty quiet - no doubt an impact of last year's economy - with an exhibit floor that was missing major players (Apple and ProTools), a dearth of Rock 'n' Roll booth babes, and no line at the complementary hearing test trailer in the [...]
Eric turned 21 in early November and we went back east to celebrate with him for a weekend. We took a road trip up to Maine to collect another state for everyone, and stopped at the lighthouse in Cape Elizabeth, by Portland, ME. This picture of the boys is being used [...]
