My Extended Family

Four generations, all decendents of Nels and Lizzy, my Great Grandparents. If my Grandparents were still alive, five generations would be represented here. My farthest away relative at the event was a second cousin twice removed (and yes, I actually know what that means!). Taken on Saturday at our family reunion in Newberg, Oregon.

Stanford Magazine

The July/August issue of Stanford Magazine ran a cover story on Stanford in Hollywood. I was fortunate to be among the alumni mentioned, and am included in a Flash illustration (I can’t include the link, but go to the page and click on “The Players,” bottom right). That’s me in about the middle.

Angora Fire – Lake Tahoe

We spend a week each summer at Stanford Sierra Camp by Fallen Leaf Lake. We had only been there 24 hours where the fire bell rang due to the Angora Fire. The fire started over the ridge but only about 2 miles from us. This is a picture only about an hour after the fire [...]

Half Moon Bay Dream Machines

Part Car Show, part Air Show, part Tractor Pull, the Half Moon Bay Dream Machines festival at the airport is a unique way to spend an afternoon. I was particularly amused by the Hell’s Angels booth, where one could buy tee shirts with clever slogans like “Known Associate.” The first video I’m posting here is [...]

Weekly World Newsweek

There is a very fine line between the current cover of Newsweek and the covers of The Weekly World News. This week’s edition of the former is a composite image of Martha Stewart’s head on a model’s body. Newsweek blames any confusion between this image and reality on us, the readers: “Anybody who knows the [...]

Analog Faaast, Digital Slooow

With the exception of KFOG and KUFX, 100% of my audio and visual media is now digital. The promise of the digital age has been delivered in my house and my car. And it sucks. Given the choice, I would not trade off the analog artifacts for the digital artifacts, but alas I would have [...]
