Golden Gate Bridge from 'That Spot'

Golden Gate Bridge and Transamerica Building

I’ve seen a lot of pictures from this spot where the Transamerica Building is right inside one of the uprights of the bridge, and I wanted to see where ‘that spot’ was. It’s very easy to find, just look out your window as you’re driving up the narrow road on the side of the cliff. (Be sure to swerve a bit to get your wife to scream while you’re looking at the view.)

There’s a place to pull off right ‘there’. The sweet spot is only about three or four feet wide, and someone else had his tripod set up in the middle of it (and his car, too). So I just stepped in and snapped this. You can tell I’m about a foot too far to the right.

My other shot from that day:

Golden Gate Bridge, Full Span

It’s beautiful there even in the middle of the day without dramatic “magic hour” lighting.

  1. So is that the G-spot?! Hey, no telling other folks where to find it!! It definitely makes a nice image when framed properly. I have myself lined up a couple feet the wrong way and didn’t notice it until I got home. http://www.jharrisonphoto.com/gallery/2747559_ghkMc/2/226401054_z4tGq/Medium

Now I know… Zoom in with your viewfinder or back to see if it is framed correctly. Enjoy! John
